About Us

Where It Started

Family Adventures Group was founded in 2019 by Tom Filer and Laura Filer — a husband‑and‑wife team with a simple but ambitious belief: families deserve better experiences.

Like many parents, Tom and Laura found that traditional soft play venues often fell short — lacking quality, cleanliness, learning value and consideration for the adults as well as the children. When they began taking their eldest daughter to these spaces, they saw a clear opportunity to reimagine what family experiences could be.

That insight led to the creation of Ocean Adventurers which opened in July 2019 — an immersive, educational and high‑quality indoor play experience designed to spark imagination, encourage learning through play, and be genuinely enjoyable for the whole family.

How We've Grown

Since those early days, Family Adventures Group has grown into a multi‑award‑winning early years and leisure group, bringing together exceptional childcare and inspiring family experiences under one purpose‑driven organisation.

Today, the Group proudly includes:

• Little Adventures Nurseries & Pre‑Schools — A Top 20 UK Nursery Group, highly rated by parents and recognised for delivering outstanding early years education with nurseries across the South West and Midlands.
• Green Giraffe Nurseries — five beautiful nursery settings across Cardiff and the surrounding areas, offering high‑quality early years care rooted in strong Montessori-inspired values and child‑led learning.
• Ocean Adventurers in Cheddar and Space Adventurers in Taunton — multi‑award‑winning indoor play destinations designed as community hubs where families can play, learn and connect.

Our Group is now headquartered in Weston‑super‑Mare, supporting teams and families across our growing network of nurseries and leisure venues.
